At Down to Earth the lovely Rhonda pointed out that simplifying isn’t just about food and grocery shopping. I know this and as yet we are just beginning so much of what is on my wish list is just that a wish. We don’t want to get into debt any more than what we are and that is another part of simplifying. Making do with what you have until you are able to make the change.
We are saving our pennies as we really would like a couple of large water tanks. I would like solar panels but the expense at this stage is prohibitive and in my books water is more important than power. Sure life is comfortable with power but without water we are goners.
So here is my don’t have wish list
- solar power
- water tanks
- a few skylights as we also have verandahs all round that cut the light out. Good for summer not so good for winter.
in the makings
- a vege patch which is actually growing woohoo
- big curtains for the back area
We have cut down our water usage. The girls tend to share baths or showers at present and K and I enjoy having one together as well.
I am still considering getting rid of my snakes due to the power they need to keep them warm. I mean I love my snakes and all but I am wondering if they are more of a drain. The heart wants to keep the brain is thinking otherwise.
Life goes on even as we feel the rumblings of change beneath our feet rocking us.
