This post here says a lot of what I’m doing. I haven’t even spoken to my DH about what I want to do. I really know he won’t get it. When he asks I say something but otherwise it’s not really discussed.
Last night he mentioned about my not spending and it came out as a complaint. I laughed at him and told him with a kiss that he must be the only male I know of that is complaining because their partner is trying to save money. I say “I know you think I’m crazy” and he says “no I know you’re crazy, but you have always been like it”.
He eats the cookies and cakes I bake. he samples the meals I cook. Some don’t make the grade but I have a homemade cookbook with recipes that are liked by the family. Eventually I can see the recipe books I have collected over time wil become redundant as what I feed my family will be stored in my book of knowledge.
What happens if I fill this book? I will start another. But there is no point in me keeping an array of books that only 2 or 3 things are used out of it. I am not quite ready to let go of my electrical gadgets that make life easy but maybe as they die off I won’t hurry to replace them as quickly. Items that I have requested lately have all been manual powered so I am not adding any more to the power problem now.
So what do I want to buy this week?
Compost and a worm farm.
I have noticed that most of our rubbish comes through as paper now. It goes in our recycle bin but still it is a huge amount that just could be better utilised. Our other rubbish is slowing down. At the end of last year we were throwing out a large rubbish bag a day of rubbish. At present we go 2 to 3 days before it has to be emptied. Not great still but not as bad either. And some of that is because our youngest children still have trouble telling the difference between recycle and not recycle.
I am hoping that in another 3 months that will be down to twice a week or maybe even once. The worm farm will be well fed as we will never stop getting mail. But I can use it. That will leave a few bottles and cans.
Hey does anyone have a pattern for a string bag for veges (knitted)

Hi,
I came to your blog by way of Rhonda Jean at down-to-earth. There is a great blog called furgal veggie mama that has a knitted string bag that she did for the tote bag swap at down-to-earth. I’m pretty sure that frugal veggie mama shared the link for this free pattern. Check and see. It was a really nice looking and useful bag.
