I am looking at my shopping list wondering what on earth has happened to me.
Stuff has been scratched off. Gravy for instance I have made the decision to make my own from scratch again. It’s been a while but I’m sure I will live with it. Other things have been added to it. Lots of vinegar and pure soap. I have made soap before but at this stage I will continue to purchase this while I perfect other things.
Lots of fruit and veges. LOTS of fruit and veges. I purchased bulk meat so meat is very small on the list, mainly mince and sausages as at this point I am not sure whether my food processor would make mince meat and I don’t know how to make sausages.
I am a meat eater, my family are meat eaters too. I am quite down to earth about this and having lived on a farm know death is part of life. Next year some of my hens will be getting old and I will need to watch them. If they stop laying I will cull them. They won’t be wasted though. You have to love a slow cooker. I will make stock at first then with some of the juice left will add more (after removing the bones) and making a soup. Double cooking the chooks like this will make sure the meat is tender.
Some people may be horrified at the thought of eating “pets” but like I said for us it’s always been a fact of life. We may have left the farm years ago but the farm doesn’t leave you!
I am also in the process of making a bear. This little bear is going to be the same length and weight as my youngest when born. May look bigger then what she was due to the fluffy fur but it will serve as a reminder to me about how small she really was.
