I am looking at my battered hands while I type. Dark stains on them nails broken and with strange markings on them. I have a feeling a manicurist would vie away in horror at my hands shrieking "the horror the horror", or maybe they would just gently tell me it is too late for my hands and advise me where to lay them to rest.
I was using my dremel today to try and polish some jewellery that i have made It looked ok but even after using the polishing cloth on it, it just didn’t have that sparkle. i have been using my dremel more often just recently to make some Christmas decorations (sory they are part of a swap so no peeks yet!)
A tool that I never thought that I would ever own sits near my desk jealously guarded from K. It comes with all these handy connections including several polishing wheels and polishing compound. Because jewellery is small I tend to polish my fingers at the same time and have gotten quite good at working out when the temperature is going to get too much and burn me without having to fling the piece across the room as I stuff offended finger in the mouth.
I had ordered a tumbler. a simple tumbler but i received a phone call a couple of days ago. "…the tumbler is not in stock." "Well that’s nice, thanks for leting me know."
" No I’m sorry the tumbler will never be in stock again."
Oh
Darn I had finally plcked the courage to purchase one and this happens. the next tumbler is like 3 or 4 times the price *sigh* so it looks ike the dremel will continue to be used for now. And the fingers will continue to be black with strange marks on them.
So who has been injured by their tools of trade?
My worst injury so far has been a doll needle buried into my thigh about 4 inches. How?
Oddly enough it was because i was being careful.
I was trying to pull a doll needle through the head of one of my bears to tattach the eyes. i was having difficulty and grabbed some pliers to help and was yanking on it. I stopped and thought hang on this is very safe if i were to have an accident i would end up with a needle in my chest so I turned the head around and pulled the needle hard. really hard.
I watched in slow motion as the needle popped through and arced beautifully straight into my leg. It hurt and very quickly yanked it out. I sported a briuse for over a week.
So come on tell me your gruesome stories.

Yurgh! Nasty needle story! My worst one was severing the tip of my index finger with a scalpel while cutting a mount for a frame. It was hanging by a thread so wrapped it up without looking at it any more, and got one child to phone my partner who whisked me off to A&E to have it glued back on with medical superglue – nyargh!! Makes me feel sick just thinking about it. I tend to drill my thumbnails while using my Dremel to bore holes in shells. Shouldn’t really be allowed anything sharp to play with…….
