And I’m not the only one changing

K has worked in different areas of horticulture for as long as I can remember.  He was studying Horticulture when I met him.
5 years ago we moved states and he started his own business.  He worked long hours and sometimes for not very grateful customers.  We lost a customer once because they phoned Christmas morning and demanded him come out and mow, now as they had guests coming.
He politely declined and they declared that we would lose them as customers.  K said he was fine with that.
We also worked for a lovely customer (We’ll call him HH – Head Honcho).  Started off with one small job and spread to all his businesses and home.
When the drought hit and we moved to level 2 water restrictions K made a decision to sell his business before we really suffered.  It was a good decision considering we are now heading towards level 6.  We just wouldn’t have survived.  HH told us that if we ever wanted a job to contact him.  We thought nice gesture.  Time passes. I get phone calls from HH asking if we are landscaping and is there are chance w could do some work for him.  The answer was no.
Two weeks ago we get a call.  i say no again.  K jokingly says I’d do it if they gave me a really good deal.  Now I know K isn’t happy doing what he is doing he purchased the truck because the income is good.  Yesterday I leave a message with HH’s PA and he phones me telling me he wishes to talk to K.
I have to phone K to let him know what I did. ROFL.
So this morning a slightly stunned K phones HH and says I’ll do it for "X"
An even more shocked K phones me and says HH accepted and added even more.
Needless to say K is now looking for a new driver for our truck.  He is really happy.
So remember to always do your best and do more then what is expected of you.  It will eventually reward you even if it takes years (2 years in our case).
We will get our weekends back.  The girls will see their daddy more  as he won’t be coming home after they have gone to bed and going before they are up.
