crafting of the best kind.

Making babies is the best craft.

Although making cuties like this giraffe is pretty satisfying too.

Sorry bout the photo but camera has died so my phone is taking the pictures at present.
Raff was a commission and I am glad to say was well received even though if I make another there will be changes.

I have also been making hair bows for the girls they are so easy that Tilly has been making them. Unfortunately she looked at the tv at the wrong time and burnt her finger resulting in a nasty blister.
I have yet to take pctures of those.

Each bow takes about 5 minutes to make. ANd that is being slow I think. Quick crafts are wonderful at present. They can be picked up and put down while while daughter is sleeping.
I have plans for a cat. That will take longer due to the fact I am going to complete it at night.

The fur I use makes my beloveds uncomfortable so will do this while everyone is asleep in bed. I am sleeping less and less and instead of worrying about it I will create, if I fall asleep all well and good.
Anyways baby beckons.

When I visited the Dr on Saturday he gave me antibiotics for laryngitis.  It was a pretty bad case of laryngitis involving pus blocking my airways.  Yipee.

He confidently informed me I would be feeling better by Sunday night.  Well Sunday night arrived and I was not feeling better in fact I was starting to feel significantly worse.  My cough had changed and I couldn’t stop coughing.  Which caused a problem in the breathing department.  Simply that when I coughed I couldn’t get the air back in and DH would thump my back hoping to clear something.

Monday saw me toddling back off to the Dr carefully sitting away from anyone so as not to infect them.  Dr listened  to chest between hacking coughs and sent me for a blood test.  he thinks I have whooping cough.  I had to have codeine as it is a “safe” cough suppressant in pregnancy and he wanted it suppressed so as not to bring on labour.  Yup the coughing was/is that bad.

Yesterday saw the culmination of feeling awful, suspecting I also had a bout of flu on top of this cough and whatever else has gone wrong with me.  Today, today I feel good.  Still coughing but not the death warmed up look I had yesterday.  woohoo.

Nothing in the house has been done, kids left to fend for themselves in unironed clothes and feasting off whatever their dad can find for them when he comes home from work.

Today a load of washing has been done, I am contemplating tea and am fiddling with the computer more.

Still won’t be able to retun to work, coughing on clients is frowned upon by my employer and so another visit to the ever optimistic Dr will be required to get yet another medical certificate saying I should be right by next Monday.

IF the blood test reults don’t show whooping cough, if they do who knows how long I’ll be off work.  I mean I really enjoy being totally flat broke because while sick I have run out of sick leave.ut at least I’m still breathing.

Well Very moody very cranky that is how it seems at present.
I need one of those signs you know “this bitch bites” or something similar.
I have been knitting quite a bit all the girls have fingerless mittns. I purchased a loom and want to play with it but at present I am trying to knit a blanket.
Nothing fancy and on those giant needles, 2.5cm (1″). DH keeps asking where the batteries are inserted. Thanks hun.
trouble is I have to unpull the bit I’ve done because I have droped a stitch and can’t fix it so I have carefully rolled it up and walked away before I throw it.
My mood is not good.
This morning I wanted to ask a 5 minute question and ended up having to wait 30 minutes. By that time i was absolutely fuming and the guy that ended up serving me treated me very very carefully.
No I couldn’t leave although by the time I was served I was contemplating a total refund and taking my business elsewheres.
Honest to god it was a 5 minute query on an item we had purchased.
A pregnant, hormonal, SICK woman is not one to rile.
As it turns out I am also suffering laryngitis.
Can I just say I have had enough I am quitting the “sick” roundabout. Let me off I do not want to stay on.

Ups and Downs

Life is full of ups and downs and these past few weeks have been a ride of ups and downs.

we have made a deciion to put down one of our beloved dogs. She is a lovely natured dog and only young but she has health problems that are defeating us at every turn. Specialists, special diets, supplements, natural diets, drugs have not helped and I hae to admit if anyone saw this dog on the street they would call the RSPCA and try to have us popped in jail.

She is losing weight fast and isn’t eating much any more, it is painful for her to move or be patted. can only imagine what this “disease/allergy” has done to her insides.

We have fought it for 3 years but we are losing so this week we will take her in. Decision was made a couple of weeks ago but we haven’t been able to bring ourselves to do this.

An upside was that a lovely elderly lady that I visit regularly who became gravely ill has recovered and is now at home.

Another downside was a work incident that has left me with a 3 month wait to see if I have managed to catch something icky. Chances are very slim but life has changed dramatically because of the wait. Stupid, stupi, happening. DH at least has been a blessing and nothing but supportive.

Another upside is that although we were fully expecting to be flooded out with storm water when the torrential rain hit Queensland our house did’t get any damage.
I remember waking in the night to the pouring rain thinking ‘Should I get up and check?’
I didn’t in fact I thought I will just deal with it in the morning as there is NOTHING I can do to stop it. sandbagging won’t work. So I rolled over and went back to sleep. When I woke it was all dry. god cause to celebrate.

The baby moves and wiggles and kicks more and more. All tests have been normal and life on a whole is good.

At this time of year my urge is to nest and on top of pregnancy I must be driving most people mad. But they benefit form scones, muffins and cakes.

Gotta love winter.

Wild thing

100_1300

We went to Mount Lamington National Park a while ago.  They have wild birds that come in for regular timed feeds.  The ones above are Crimson Rosellas and the ring in is a Bush Turkey.

The only thing is birds are smart.

They arrive

They arrive

And when you sit down for a meal, they come.

And they aren't shy

And they aren't shy

Now there is a sign that states don’t feed the birds.  Which is fair enough I spose but birds can’t read.  And if you don’t give it to them they steal it.

King Parrot just before swoop trying to steal food

The girls thought it was wonderful.   The birds thought it great and when we left they just moved onto the next table.

Although this one wanted to come home with us and followed us on our hike.

Myth Buster

*sigh*
Well I have busted a few myths in regards to pregnancy LOL
According to most of the myths I am carrying a boy. Well the ultrasound showed nothing between the legs which looks like I am having a girl.

I am carrying low like a basketball.
The baby’s heartbeat is around the 140 and below mark.
My husband didn’t put on weight with me.
My right boob is bigger then my left.
The ring and cork test both said a boy.
I thought I was having a boy… guess I’m not in the 71% who can guess correctly.
According to chinese systems I should be having a boy as well.

My friend says not to trust the ultrasound unless the person doing the scan was 99% sure. He stated he was pretty sure although he couldn’t get a great look does this count for 99%?

I’ll be honest after 4 girls it would have been lovely to have a little boy. But it doesn’t look like it was meant to be. We were a little disappointed although very relieved that bubs is healthy loking and growing normally after Miss Lauren it was a scary thought.

So now after trying to figure out boys names (Nathan Rhys) we have to work out a girls name. Oh My.

Raising Gangles

Gangles

Gangles

Lovely little Roo.

She came to us in November 2008.  DH had been driving his truck about 8 hours from where we live.  He saw her sitting on the white line in the middle of the road.  1/2 a foot one side he would not have seen her, the other side she would have been killed.  According to Dh he stopped and she hopped up to him.  He tossed her on the floor of the truck but she hopped up onto his lap and lay there for the 8 hour trip home.  At 4am he arrived home and I leapt out of bed to see him.  He shoved this little grey bundle at me ad  remember thinking  “What is that?”

When I realised well I was smitten.  I prepared some emergency milk for her and later that morning purchased proper milk and some old pillowcases.

She was so skinny and Gangly that the name Gangles stuck . And we adored her.  She would follow us pulling on us for her bottles and she could jump!!  She could from standing jump clean over the back of the lounge.  And as she grew more confident with us she would often leap onto the table. Once this habit started we had to toss her outside for meals.

Well on the weekend came the day we all knew was coming but had tried to avoid.  Although still only a baby Gangles went to a new carer. She was staying outside 90% of the time and our fences were not suitable.  Tears from the girls and from me.

I am proud though, Roos tend to be hard to raise.  Their bellies sensitive to milks and often they suffer scours.  Didn’t happen with her.  She ate well, pooped like a trooper and harassed the cats.  She went from weighing under 2kg to over 5kg in the 5 months which is spot on growth for them.

She was rounded and curious and we will miss her.

100_1378

Oh by the way Gangles is not a Kangaroo, she is a Wallaroo (the same but smaller)

Time flies

And this is no exception.  19 weeks pregnant in 2 days.  Unlike any of my other pregnancies (and this will be my 5th Baby) I suffered morning sickness.

Well really all day sickness really.  And I don’t know whether it was a blessing or not but I never actually threw up.  Some days I wished I could but it never happened.  Feeling fine now thank goodness and just popped.  Before I just looked fat, now I look pregnant.  I hope. LOL.

So as long as all is going well Bubs is around 15cm long and weighs 240 grams.

I am having my ultrasound this week!!  Woohoo.  It’s all happening.

Ugh

Feeling Blah. Finished work all right but by the time I got home….
Any way I am feeling better which is good. The bear I am working on is almost done 1 leg and 1 arm to sew and then the fun bit. She is going to be quite interesting to finis.
And yes the bear is a she, the colour wouldnt let it be anything else LOL.

Lilac bear underway.

She is such a beautiful soft lilac. I’m sure I have pictures of the start of her months ago. Well she sat for ages and ages with nothing happening. Last night I sewed and tonight I am going to sew so the bear should be finished this weekend. She has bent arms and legs and I plan to have have her in a sleepy position.
Well that is the plan but all those who make bears know that sometimes what you think you are going to do and what really happens can be totally diffferent.
So we will play it by ear and see how she goes.
